Who do you like better now and long term between Eric Young jr. and Scott Sizemore?

That's a very interesting question and something we obviously need to monitor as this season and beyond develops…
Sizemore seems to have a more well-balanced offensive games, but Young obviously has extremely explosive speed on the basepaths.
Young though might be hardpressed to pull the ball (which so many younger players tend to do at Coors Fields) which might detract away, but if sprays the ball all over he'll get more doubles and triples obviously. He needs also to become slightly more patient at the plate, which would make him even more lethal.
Sizemore might generate better power numbers…..
I believe Sizemore has the potential to hit between 18-22 HRs, 85 RBIs, maintain a .325 BA, 25 SBs, .855 OPS… Probably could match what Utley has done….
Young would average around 8-15 HRs, 120 Runs, .820 OPS (could improve if he's more disciplined), but where he would stand-out would be his ability to eclipse 50+ SBs each season…..
Both could be steals of the draft…I honestly cannot tout who I feel is better because they're so different in many ways….

Good question. Great answer. I'd go with Young if forced, though.

I've thought it over and agree the I would go w/Young… Just the intangible of him having that speed (which obviously isn't learned) alone makes him more appealing. I expect he will also improve on his power stats as well…It's again all contingent on if he becomes more disciplined, which most with that kind of upside have no problems making that transition. Plus, if he does a lot of bunt singles and such, he’ll eventually develop into the ideal Rockies lead-off hitter.
The main issue however is his defense…The Rockies have used him in the OF and also at 3B to see if he can be employed as a utility type player for now, however, his speed offsets his defensive liabilities…..

I disagree and will take Scott Sizemore over Young.
I dont see young ever developing power, he is much more likely to be a one dimensional player.
Sizemore on the other hand can hit for good average and very solid power numbers already.

The only concern about Sizemore is his defense and hopefully his struggles at 2B won't detract away from any of his offensive progress. Other than that, I agree that he's more well-rounded at this point compared to Young, but I beg to differ that Young will be one dimensional. Young will hopefully learn how to spray the ball all over Coors Field (once given the opportunity) and still go through an extensive work-out program to add more bulk….
Obviously only time can tell and will be fascinating to see how both their respective careers materialize…. I bet both will become future All Stars…..

Sizemore is hitting .281, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 5 Runs, 6 BB/3 Ks, .760 OPS….. Whereas, Young at AAA has been horrid thus far, so it's obvious that Sizemore is clearly the best, but obviously that can always change……

Eric Young was recently promoted and tonight (his first start and in the lead-off spot) went 2-4, 2-Runs, 2-RBI, and 1-BB….In his prior to games (covering 2 ABs), he went 2-2 w/1 SB…..
However, true to form…Young tonight also committed an error, so we shall see if that prevents him from continuing to see regular duty at 2B……
Sizemore's BA has since dipped to .255, and he still has 0 HR, 4 RBI, and now 6 Runs……
Still difficult to state clearly who's best, but Young is inching closer for that distinction…..

i just inked eric young as my 6th minor leaguer (6 max) in dynasty action
. i love his big play capabilities and love the fact he has hit at every level an come through the ranks.
more speed then sizemore but then again he has more speed then most ,even at a speed filled position .
i would make a move for eric young jr if i had the oppurtunity and means

Agreed completely there as well….Also, Young should become OF eligible some soon since he's been seeing action in LF…. Jim Tracy is trying everything possible to get Young into the daily line-up….If he manages to do that, then everyone else must jump on Young instantly…. He can potentially impact in at least 5 offensive categories and should be available in over 80% of the leagues, but demand is suddenly high for him at this time, so please don't hesitate…..
