OfflineWasn't sure where I should post this really….but I figured dynasty since some of you may have him in leagues…well…they called him up this afternoon, and the Hosmer Era begins tomorrow in KC!! Can't wait. Look for him to ease into the lineup (that's my guess anyway).
Maybe a lineup for KC something like:
Aviles 2B
Melky CF
Gordon LF
Butler DH
Francouer RF
Betemit 3B
Hosmer 1B
Catcher
Escobar SS
That's looking way better than when Kila was here….I guess when you hit .440 at AAA they can only keep you down so long….
Offlinewell at the last minute I decided to go to the game for Hosmer's debut. He looks extremely patient at the plate. He went 0-2 with 2 walks. He stole a base, and looked VERY good in the field. I don't think he's going to have the struggles that a guy like Gordon had in KC, just based on Hosmer's approach at the plate. Looks like he'll contribute immediately, and already has contributed by not being an automatic out (as Kila was). Hosmer was batting 6th last night, FYI, with Betemit behind him. I like that move…putting a solid vet behind him for protection is a good idea.
If you have him in a dynasty league, you might just want to plug him in your lineup somewhere (I already have in two leagues). If he's available in any of your leagues…probably worth grabbing and seeing how well he produces.
OfflineHosmer update…after his first series in the big leagues….Hosmer is at:
3 for 9 (.333) with 3 walks, pushing his OBP to .500…not too shabby. He missed a homer yesterday by about 3 feet, wound up with a double instead. So…one double, one SB, one run, one RBI. Not a bad debut. This kid looks legit to me. I'm sure he'll have some ups and downs, but as far as KC's recent prospects go, I expect Hosmer to be more Billy Butler and less Alex Gordon as far as lenghty struggles/slumps go. Billy came up and was pretty much a .300 hitter from the start….Alex as we know took a few years to figure it out….Hosmer seems more like Butler in that regard.

Offlinegood call on Hosmer….Duffy, on the other hand, is really struggling….probably not a fantasy option in 2011…I still think he's one to keep an eye on though….even Greg Maddux sucked when he came up at age 21/22…..
Hosmer is legit though….absolute stud. Look for some more Royals callups in the near future…Moustakas, maybe Lorenzo Cain in the OF…probably a couple more at some point as well.
