Let's hear some names of guys that potentially could be first-round picks in the near future, like 2010 or 2011.
I'm talking guys that WON'T go in rounds 1-2 this year… name a player or two that will soon sneak up into that first-round in a season or two from now.

In terms of future stud pitchers, you guys have already discussed David Price , he obviously has a shot at a 'Tim Lincecum' type one year ascent into 2nd-round status.
Another pitcher I really like is Clayton Kershaw, who is only 21, and has such amazing stuff. He has about the same upside as Price, imo.
In terms of hitters, 1B/3B Chris Davis (TEX) could vault up the rankings quick, if he proves to have legitimate 35 HR power, and cuts down on his strikeouts. A similiar hitter to Davis is OF Travis Snider (TOR), who shows great power potential, but may need another year or two to develop.
Also OF Jay Bruce (CIN) of course, who is really interesting, because he has shown good power with a ~.320 average in the minors, plus the ability to steal bases. He stole 19 in single A, and hasn't done anything close since, but he has speed obviously. OF Justin Upton (ARI) is somewhat similiar to Bruce, with maybe less HRs, and a much better bet for SBs.

At last count, it is estimated that the 2009 NY Yankees team salary will significantly exceed the GDP of at least 9 separate countries.

Chris Davis is gonna be good, you're right Junkyard!
Price and Bruce are also good prospects for this topic, but Davis is the best of the bunch.

I like Josh Johnson, SP from the Marlins. He missed most of last season after tommy johns surgery, but the games he played in were impressive. He only lost one of 14 starts.

I also have a good feeling about Davis this season. 35HRs would be huge. Where is Davis' ADP right now? Anyone know?

Close. I like Davis a lot and I say still find a way to get him, but I think I keep Ortiz. I like both and would find a way to have both :)
