OfflineWho are some players you are afraid to draft? Due to injury or you just think they will be a bust?
My list:
Cliff Lee, i dont think he will be near as good
Matt Holliday, if he falls i will gladly take him but IMO his value decreases a bit with his new team
AJ Burnett, Hes probably going to be taken pretty early among pitchers and i trust him with his injuries.
Lets add to this list.

I like Upton too, but I think Steelers0087 meant for this list to be “stay away from period.” Right? Upton going too early is a good topic, though.
Pretty much smitty, unless the player drops far below his ADP (average draft position) then i would take the player.

I do like Cliff Lee still but i guess i will see how high he goes. How high will he go steelers0087? What should i prepare for?
Theres probably going to be someone in your draft that will draft Lee as a top 5 overall pitcher. Let them take Lee in the top 5 pitchers. Dont reach for him. I see Cliff Lee as a borderline top 10 SP this year. I wouldnt take him any earlier than that.

Sounds good.

Yeah, I agree on Cliff Lee, the year he had in 2008 was a little bit baffling. The key to his turnaround seemed to be his big improvement in control. When he was struggling in 2006 and 2007, his walks per 9 innings was around 3. Last year, his walks per 9 innings was around 1.37. He doesn't have a dominanting fastball, but that kind of impeccable control explains his success last year.
So if he can continue to curtail the walks, he should be very good once again, but 2008 may have been as good as it gets for Cliff Lee.
OfflineObviously you are not going to stay away from him, but I'd lower your expectations on A-Rod for 2009. He DOES NOT handle pressure very well and the weight of the season is going to be resting on his shoulders. Not to mention the daily attack by reporters and media everynight. Now even a down season for him is better than most, but he is not a top 5 pick for me.
Call me crazy, but I have him listed behind Wright and Cabrera in my 3B rankings.

Almost everyone has a-rod behind Wright and Cabrera.
