OfflineOK, finally the end of the Top 100 list. Will be updating 101 and beyond all this next week, and then adjustments will have to start as a result of the Winter meetings and subsequent transactions.
76 C.J. Wilson, SP Not going to be hard to rack up wins with Albert in your line-up. Stud pitcher otherwise too.
77 Zach Greinke, SP 200+ innings, 200+ K's a season, and should be better with a year in the NL under his belt.
78 Shin-Soo Choo, OF A 20-20 lock provided injuries stay away this season. Should have a great bounce-back campaign.
79 Stephen Strasburg, SP Yes, coming off Tommy-John surgery, but his cameo in September says he's ready and able.
80 BJ Upton, OF The Rays just don't seem to want to part with him; and we can't part ways with him in the Top 100. Multi-cat goodness.
81 Aramis Ramirez, 3B Hit .306 with 26 HR and 87 RBI for the lowly Cubs. What if he ends up in a good line-up?
82 Miguel Montero, C May seem high, but .282 hitting catchers with 18 HR and 86 RBI are hard to come by.
83 Adam Wainwright, SP We're in the part of the draft where you can take a chance or two. Why not with a former Cy Young award winner?
84 Josh Johnson, SP He and Wainwright would be a lot higher if they weren't hurt last season. A top pitcher when healthy.
85 Mariano Rivera, RP The dude will be 42, but he proves me wrong every year I try to drop him. 44 saves and sizzling 1.91 ERA, 0.90 WHIP!
86 Adam Lind, 1B Enters prime years showing a little more of '09 stats than '10 last year. Could be huge again.
87 Adam Jones, OF Like the Rays with BJ, the O's seems to want to hold on to him. Still can develop even further.
88 Madison Bumgarner, SP I like what I see. A full year under his belt on top of a World Series ring, he should ring up the stats nicely this season.
89 John Axford, RP Second only to Kimbrel in the NL last year; but can he do it again?
90 Ben Zobrist, 2B Multi position eligibility and multi-category production make him valuable on any fantasy team.
91 Elvis Andrus, SS The next Ranger to take the next big step. Plays at a shallow position and gave you 37 steals last year.
92 Billy Butler, DH 95 RBI's highly over-looked last year. If he increases on his 19 HR you hit the jack-pot here.
93 Matt Wieters, C Is starting to show why we had all those expectations. Socked 22 HR's last year, which you'll gladly take at catcher.
94 Drew Storen, RP You just don't get recognized playing for the Nationals. But had 43 saves for them and is locked in.
95 Brett Gardner, OF Wish he'd hit for a higher average, but in Yankee line-up he'll give you runs (87) and steals (49).
96 Jose Valverde, RP Did not blow a save all last season. Won't do it again but will get you 40+ saves again.
97 Jason Heyward, OF Yes, he flopped in his 2nd year. But how many of us were excellent in our jobs at 21? He'll come around.
98 Lance Berkman, 1B Man, with Pujols gone, his numbers might be too. But will be less physically taxed back at 1B instead of the OF.
99 Melky Cabrera, OF Before you gag, he was fantasy's #24th ranked player last year. And he'll play all the time for the Giants.
100 Mark Trumbo, 1B 29 HR as a rookie last year, and now he'll have Pujols in the line-up!? Good-bye Mr. Baseball.
OfflineSome comments on various guys:
Greinke – I think could be more valuable…maybe a more top 60-70 guy…but you're not far off with that ranking. I think his ERA will go down this year – remember he got a late start last year due to broken ribs and it took him a while to get going.
Upton – could be way more valuable, or could play himself down towards the bottom end of that top 100 if he doesn't start hitting the ball. He's got speed and power, though…which is always nice. But he needs to get on base more.
Johnson/Wainwright – I'm with you here. They are through the roof on talent – but always scary with a pitcher coming off major injury.
Andrus – stud.
Billy Butler – I don't know if his power will ever come…but he'll always hit for average, get on base, score/drive in runs. Especially with the lineup around him vastly improved and getting better.
Wieters – He'll be overlooked in a lot of drafts (I think). Wait a while and nab him somewhere in rounds 8 thru 11 and you'll be happy with your catcher.
Trumbo – I don't like him much….probably a good spot to pick him, but I'd pass on him altogether (my preference). He's got good pop, but lousy average/OBP skills will catch up to him….although Pujols definitely makes the lineup better…you've got to factor in that Trumbo will have to deal with a position change now, and is dealing with a broken foot as well. I see regression here…..
