Does anyone collect Baseball and or other sports cards or memorabilia? I used to collect along with my Dad(he has a massive collection). I recently bought a few boxes of 2007 Upper Deck and pulled a Justin Verlander game worn jersey card(they cut a small piece of one of his worn jerseys and put it in between the card with a widow allowing you to see the piece), I don't know how much it's worth yet.

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone collects and might be interested in trading or talking cards.

My collection days ended when I went off to college in 1977.

I am that classic story.  I went to college, and mom went into my room and threw all my stuff away.

I had at least 2 or 3 shoeboxes of practically brand new cards from like 1967-1972 in them.

Gad, I'd be a rich man today………

Wow! you must of had some good old cards. My pops has some old cards from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Most of my collection is from 87 thru 96, now I'm putting together a set of 2008 Upper Deck. When I was sorting my set yesterday I noticed I had doubles of Tulos rookie card, nice! Rookie cards are the best to collect, they stand the test of time. And putting together this set has gotten me more familiar with todays players. Now I have all kinds of stats running through my head from the backs of the cards.

Yes, the only problem is…….the only stats that count in fantasy are the future ones!

I still collect a little here and there….Have a huge collection just begging to be organized.  I bought a table and chair and setup a little space to start going through them all a few years ago…and that lasted about three days.  Too overwhelming and time consuming!  But funny you post this question, because I just started digging back through some of it the other day….

Bob, do you have any good rookie cards? What type of cards do you have that need to be sorted into sets? My best and hardest set to put together is the 92 Bowman set. It took five years to put that together due to the rarity and cost of the cards, but it was worth it. I got a few extra Chipper Jones rookie cards out of that.

I have a lot of good cards….a few years ago I started buying boxes of cards and got a lot of good game used stuff and autographed stuff….

I'm sure I have some good rookies….of course I remember back in the day when my prize rookies were the Darryl Strawberry Topps Traded and Dwight Gooden Fleer Update….ugh…those were worth some bucks once upon a time!

I have some cool old tobacco cards….all kinds of stuff…I'm all over the board with my collection!

Sounds cool. I'm pretty much the same, I used to buy a lot of boxes and open packs like they were loto scratchers. My pops used to do card shows all the time, he and his buddy who had a shop, so I would get the boxes at dealer cost. So I've bought boxes everywhere from 93 Topps Stadium Club(about a hundred boxes in all, I was trying to put together a "1st Day Production" set) to 95 Upper Deck SP X. I sold all those insert cards when I realized that only rookie cards have true staying value. Gotta tell you about my OJ Simpson Jail Autographed card. Tetrad got OJ to sign a thousand cards while he was in jail(along with a few other companies), I bought a box of Tetrad and pulled a card that said "you have won a OJ Autograph card". I sent it in Next Day mail so I had a receipt and they sent me back the card encased in a Lucite brick. That's my best Autograph card.

that sounds awesome…I'd like to see that card!

Trying to think what I have…I dunno…I really need to dig through my stuff and catalog it.  I have a Jeter autographed card and also a Jeter jersey card.

I have a Babe Ruth bat card, Jim Thorpe jersey card…Verlander rookie autographed card….umm…I have some good football stuff as well.  I sold a few football autographs off like Greg Jennings.  Of course I have a George Brett rookie…being a KC guy.  I have a Rickey Henderson rookie.  Have the 1989 Upper Deck set with Griffey, Sheffield, Randy Johnson rookies…

I could go on and on and on….Tobacco cards I have would include a Cy Young (although it's got a hole in it).  I figure the Cy Young books at a few thousand bucks in ok shape…so it's probably worth a couple hundred bucks maybe??  I dunno…I think it's cool as hell…the hole just adds a little character.  One of my favorite cards honestly.  Kind of like owning a small slice of history.

Most def. that Cy Young is a GREAT card. The 89 Upper Deck set is great too, That set will only go up over the years especially after Griffey, Sheffield and The Big Unit all go to the hall.Upper Deck is in a North San Diego town called Carlsbad and they pioneered the hologram card era, I worked their for a few months as a young adult in the production area, they searched us on the way out off of work. Sounds like you have a lot of good stuff old and new.
