OfflineI made this trade yesterday in a league…only to have the commish nullify it because it was so "unfair." Actually he, and two other league members, used language not suitable to repeat here, lol.
Yes, on the surface, it looks unfair. A guy who will probably end with 30 saves or more for a pitcher currently short of 10 wins on the season. BUT, allow me to share the logic behind it.
We are in the last week of the season. The other owner started the week three and a half games out of the last playoff spot (which is actually what ticks me off the most, as 3 other owners posted it was unfair that a guy who has been eliminated from the playoffs made that trade). The owner who gave up Perez has no other RP's who get saves. His opponent has 5 RP's who get saves, so logically he is gonna lose that category. So I gave him a SP who has a start this week against the lowly Cubbies, is pitching at home, AND has the hottest team in baseball playing behind him. So that at least gives him a shot this week to help with K's, wins, and maybe even ERA (it is the Cubs afterall).
I figure that given the circumstances, it is a fair trade. Am I wrong?
