I almost hate bringing this up, because the last time I played the Fantazzle game 5 weeks ago I got totally creamed…quite embarrassing to tell the truth.  I jokingly said something like this to Zac, who runs the "Game of Guru's", and he informed me that so far this season only one "guru" has finished in the Top 10 in any given week.  Matthew Barry is right…there are no "experts" in fantasy sports, lol.

Anyways, we are going at round 2 a little different.  Taking a little longer look at the scoring system (hey, when you get blown out you have to figure out how to fix the problem), it was a little more clear this time that Home Run hitters is the way to go.  So looking at what's been happening the past month in baseball, here is the line-up we submitted for this week:

C: B. McCann (5 HR's the past 2 weeks)

1B: A. Lind (8 HR's in the past 2 weeks!)

2B: R. Weeks (7 HR's the past month

3B: A. Beltre (all six games in Texas this week)

SS: J. Reyes (#4 player in yahoo fantasy the past month)

OF: M. Kemp (11 HR's the past month and our only repeat player from our first week)

OF: M. Morse (also 11 HR's the past month, but cost $60,000 less than Kemp in this game)

OF: M. Holiday (looked good off the DL, but Pujols injury may hurt him this week)

Now, you gotta admit, that is a tasty looking line-up.  But it is fantasy, and it is only 6 games each, so anything can happen.  One thing I like about the Fantazzle game though is you can get a great looking line-up like this with your fake one million dollars.  So unlike some of the other games I've played in the past where you have to put in one or two bench players to come in under budget.  Fantazzle.com, check 'em out.

VERY happy to report that we are showing much better the 2nd time around in this game of "guru's."

Last night was a huge boost, as we shot up from 10th to 4th place out of 21 contestants.

Our big sticks this week have been Matt Kemp with 34 points, Matt Holiday and Andre Beltre with 25 each, and Brian McCann with 23.

Our biggest mistake was taking  the hot hitting Adam Lind at 1B, who has cooled down the past 4 games.  He has only given us 10 points.

Imagine we'd be vying for the overall lead if we were able to afford Konkerko instead of Lind at 1B.

Anyways, as of last night we had a total of 165 points, in 4th place.  First place was in with 192.

Apparently no guru but one has finished in the Top 10 this season, so we stand to look half way decent if we can keep this up through the weekend!

Darn it, our guys cooled off Saturday and Sunday, and we finished 10th of 21.  Still, it's only the 2nd time a 'guru' (I hate that name) was in the top 10, so something to build on.

No offense to the fantazzle site, but this confirms that I won't gamble on fantasy sports.  For one, dad gambled the money away when I was a kid, so we didn't get some of the "extra" things in life, like, er, braces and dental appointments.  But it also shows just how hard it is to predict things.  And with 2 teenage boys eyeing college someday soon, I best hang on to every dollar I got!

But if others see that as a fun recreational expense, I have no problem with that.  Have fun!
