I did a couple of spotlights this morning on the possibility of the SD Padres (hi Roy) trading away Heath Bell near the deadline, and thus Mike Adams being a good speculative add for saves heading towards the fantasy playoffs.

Just wondering if there are any other situations out there worth considering???

Saw an article earlier this week about the possibility of Soria being dealt.  Any ideas on that Bob?  I would imagine that "Crow" would be the pick-up there.

And last night there was a hubabo about Francisco Rodriguez being willing to be dealt from the Mets to a contender.  I won't get into THAT, but if it happens, who is the add?  Surely the Mets would not go back to Isringhausen!?

Any other hot possibilities out there?

Nice spotlights today!

Well…if Soria were to get dealt…yes, I think Crow would be the guy to step in there.  He was given the job earlier this year (although didn't have a chance at a save before Soria got it together).  No reason to think he wouldn't be the guy they turned to again.

Now…thoughts on Soria being traded.  I love Soria….but….he may be the guy who makes the most sense for KC to deal, as they really don't NEED a closer like that at this point in the teams development.  I mean he hasn't had an opportunity to get a save in a week or more.  So why not move him.  I think the Yankees would be a great fit for him…he's still VERY young, and Mariano can't pitch forever (can he????).  If the Royals could get a good haul to supplement their already strong pipeline of prospects, they'd be stupid not to do it.

Thanks Bob, for some reason I really got inspired that day.  I'll tell you, after 4 months of trying this, I REALLY appreciate Smitty's work on his football site!

Thanks for the info. and thoughts on Soria and the Yankees.  I think you may be on to something there.  Worth keeping an eye on.

Any other situations that you sense, please share them here.  By this point, waiver wires are devoid of saves, so owners have to pounce ahead of time when something is in the air.

this is the time of year where, even though you won't get saves, it sometimes helps your pitching staff to pick up dominant setup guys to get that extra help in ERA/WHIP/K.  If you can't get saves…may as well bump those other categories and try to win those three every week!
