Never leave a spot unused!

During the season, if one of my guys is coming off the DL, I take a quick look at the waiver wire to see if an enticing player has been dropped by an unpatient owner.  You'd be surprised who you can pick up for 2, 3, or sometimes even 4 months of use this way.

Now that we are 3 to 4 weeks away from the fantasy playoffs, you may want to take a look…towards September.  Enter Strasburg.  As you probably know, he has been gone because of Tommy John surgery.  But he is making a very good comeback, and even goes on a single A rehab start later on today.

If all goes well in the next few weeks, the Nationals may bring him up for some starts in September.  IF THAT'S THE CASE, wouldn't you want to access him for your playoffs?

If you have a "DL" slot available and the kid is on the wire, it isn't going to hurt you to store him for a few weeks to see what happens…..

And if he's not, you may want to look around anyway.  There are no promises, but I added Justin Morneau in one of my leagues last night…just in case.

He threw poorly stat wise in his first rehab assignment, but I don't put much stock in rehab stats. To me it's if he feels comfortable throwing especially after Tommy John surgery. Strasburg just needs to feel like he's still had fluid motion in his windup and delivery and his pitch selection is all their. Unfortunately after the rehab start there was no post game interview with him aired so keep an eye and an ear out for what he has to say on how he feels. Good call Bones, Strasburg's definitely worth the time.
