Can't figure out my original post on this particular league, so apologies.  I have written about it often.  The league commish has made about 4 major decisions that you would just not see in any other league, and virtually flips you off if you question him.  The rest of the league is very rude, crude, and socially unacceptable with their smack talk.

It has become the league I want to win the most.  Earlier this season Bob had a line that went something like, "That's it, just go out there and win the league to show them."

Well, I might just do it.  The commish, who had "built his team for September", got bounced in the first round.  I won handily, and hung on for a narrow 7-6 win in the semi's.  The highlights there were no triples for my opponent that week, after he scored 4 the week before.  That category ended in a tie.  And pitching, where I have only 2 starters left after injuries decimated me, well, Cole Hamels got a "complete game", and I won that category (I never win that category).  So it was a fortunate week.

Now it's the finals, and the guy I am playing had one of the most sick responses to a post I've ever seen.  I said last Sunday:  "9-11, let us not forget."  He responded: "9-12-2011, the first of many days I rape your team."  Can you believe that?

Happy to say in the first 4 days he's had the lead once.  In our last contest, he beat me on the strength of all the weird categories this league has.  He got triples, a complete game, a shut-out, a no-hitter (!), and a grand slam.  So it is kind of fun that the tide has turned this week, as I have 2 triples to his none, and a grand slam to his none.  I am up 8-5, which will probably turn to 7-6 because of the strikeout category.  If I can hold on to my leads and he fails to have a complete game, well, let's just say I look forward to my final smack comments if I get so lucky to post them.  It will be tricky; I want to say something that shows I was right, but also stay classy.

That would be awesome John! I was hoping you would win this league. I would love to knock the crap out of that guy, my Grandpa used to work at The Pentagon, near the area it was hit. People shouldn't joke around when it comes to 9-11, that's just evil. Man, I really hope you win!

Me too Roy, but I may have spoken too early.  We have 'complete games' and 'shut-outs' as categories, and freaking Javier Vazquez threw his first shut-out since 2006 last night.  Makes ya want to scream, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!???"

So I need to flip the HR or Average category to win, as he is ahead 8-7 to start on Saturday.  He has an 11-10 lead on home runs, and is up 20 points in average, so all my big boppers are in today.

Wow.  We head into Sunday in a contest where almost anything can happen.  There are 15 categories, and it is conceivable that up to 10 can flip.  I'll show the category first, then my score, then my opponent:

Triples 2-1

Home Runs 11-12

Stolen bases 7-6

Average .313-.316

Grand Slams 1-0

Complete Games 0-1

Shut-Outs 0-1

Saves 4-3

Walks 7-18

Strike Outs 34-52

I have relied on my hitting all season, but his guys have been lights out, even though they aren't "top" players.  I have 4 SP's to his one for the final day, so all of the pitching cats listed above are in play…though complete games and shut-outs are rare.

I start the day behind 7-8.  But I gained 40 batting average points on Saturday to get this close.  It will be a nail biter as it can go either way.

AND, I have RP Jason Motte and SP Cole Hamels in the 5:00 game, whereas he has no one.  I may be watching some Sunday night baseball this week!

Wow! that's about as close as our match up! I'm pulling for you against "The Rapist". My battle with HowwieDoinn' is a very close 6-4 (Yahoo) in my favor but it all depends on today and I will be glued to that Cards vs. Phillies game also

I LOVE THE PANDA!

Pablo Sandoval was a huge help in me WINNING THE LEAGUE I WANTED TO WIN THE MOST!!!

His 2 HR's yesterday, along with M. Montero's put me up by one in that category.

His hitters FINALLY cooled down for one day, and I won the batting average by ..314 to .304.

And gosh darn it, I have to give credit to a Dodger, as their rookie shortstop Dee Gordon went 3-4 yesterday to help out that average.  He was my sub for the injured Tulo.

The strategy worked.  I had crummy pitching all year, then half those guys got hurt this past month.  Nothing on the waiver wire.  So I went with Cole Hamels and B. Beachy and 5 relief pitchers and counted on my hitting.  I only won one pitching category and tied another, and lost 5.  BUT, I won 8 of 9 hitting categories.

Final score:  8-6.

As far as my pithy, yet classy comment?  That was a tough one.  The commish got on before me and said congrats and good job.  So, since it was such a raunchy league, I thought I would hit them with this:

"Thanks commish.  But it must be kind of tough on some of you to be schooled by a Children's Pastor.  God bless your off-seasons."

In 12 hours since, no one has commented, lol.

Thanks Roy.  Ya know, it WAS A JOB.  I worked that league really hard, as it had all the weird categories and the incentive to beat those guys was so high.  I'm finding I'm not really into my public league playoffs so much this week.

I would love to find some more hard core leagues next season like that, just without all the vulgarity.

I hear ya! I got very lucky this year and was in leagues that were non verbal(except for howiedoinn'). It's becoming more and more rare to find other ppl that use the English language in decent taste.
