I know, I know, every year we ring our hands over all-star selections.  But even the worst fantasy geek knows that that Placido Polanco has absolutely TANKED since his hot April start.  He's down to a .277 batting average on the year, and has a WHOPPING 4 Home runs and 3 stolen bases.  It's a bad year for third basemen, but it's not THAT bad.

How do you vote in a guy who over the past 30 days is hitting .186, with 7 runs scored and a single HR.  At least he has 10 RBI.  But come on, if Derek Jeter can be voted in at below all-star levels, can't a guy like Longoria, or Wright, or Sandoval who hasn't played much.  Heck, even the Cubs Aramis Ramirez should go in ahead of PP based on numbers alone.

Maybe I won't mind being in camp next week during the all-sPud game…..

Someone needs to reinvent the process :) And put some higher stakes into who wins and loses..

And to make matters worse it seems like every Phillies game I've watched this year the commentators keep saying "and batting third is the red hot Polanco". Even an ESPN guy said "Polanco seems to be the only Phillie on fire this year". Either these folks have short term amnesia or Polanco's paying them off. I also think you hit the nail on the head Smitty, they do need to reinvent the process. It seems like year after year the player ballots and head coaches have corrected some off the mistakes the fans have made. What reinventing they can do is anyone's guess?
