OfflineWell, Jim Leyland came out today and said, "Let's be real clear about this. Miguel Cabrera is going to play third base this year for the Tigers."
So, we trust this right? I mean, has a manager ever lied to us before, lol?
The bigger question isn't if it will happen, but whether it can last? Something tells me Fielder and Cabrera are going to end up in a rotation between first base and DH.
Anyways, it's looking like Miguel will gain 3B eligibility. So is ESPN right in saying he shoots up to the #1 draft pick? I'd have to go with you Bob; you draft the best player first. But some might conclude that is Cabrera this year. So far in ADP's, apparently Kemp is going #1 and Pujols is going #2.

OfflineI actually don't think it will be that bad. Cabrera is an average 3B. If you look at his sub metrics, he isn't below average. Peralta isn't elite but merely average as well. Prince is horrible. Plus if Inge wins 2b, then he can cheat up the middle or towards 1b to help out.
Will any Detroit infielder be in the run for a golden glove? Absolutely not. But they won't commit 5 errors a game either. I'll take Miggy and Prince's offsense over the best defensive players in the game. :)
OfflineCabrera at 3B for his career is well below average if you look at RF/9 or RF/G.
his total zone runs above or below average is -30 I believe.
He's not good at 3B at all….and he's much bigger now than he was before. I think he is mediocre at best, and probably more along the lines of awful. He may or may not make a ton of "bad" plays on balls hit pretty near to wherever he's positioned, but he will absolutely not cover ground over there and they will need a top flight SS to cover that ground (which they also don't have).
As it stands, they COULD have the worst defensive infield in all of baseball…
OfflineHey Gus, welcome aboard.
It's been a little slow around here lately, so nice to hear a new voice.
We're making changes to the site, so hopefully things pick up soon.
Would love to hear more of your input. Feel free to share some more topics.
As far as THIS topic, MOST fantasy leagues play not taking into account the fielding aspect of the game, so who cares
Wouldn't you just love to have a fantasy team with Fielder and Cabrera on it at the corners. NICE!
