Hey guys, i have Robinson Cano and Chase Utley both on my roster. Is now the time to trade Utley or Cano (although with injury concern I prefer Utley on the move)? I know I could use him for my utility spot, but I also have Eric Hosmer, with Adrian Gonzalez manning my 1B slot.

I'd appreciate some help here.

I was offered Heyward. Is he about the right price? He has been having a shoulder issue and his BA is in the toilet.

Hey man, thanks for the question.

I would NOT trade for Heyward right now.  You are right about the shoulder.  He will either play with the injury all season and probably continue to be inconsistent (as well as frustrating as we all expected more of the kid)  -OR-  he could have shoulder surgery, which needless to say, won't pad your stats.

If you had just left your first post up and not included the 2nd, I would of argued to stand pat.  But that is not an attractive outfield group.  You would have nothing to lose to dangle Utley for a more top tier outfielder who you know is going to produce.  All your league-mates can do is say "no."  And what is so bad about that, because you would still have Utley?  But if one of them says "yes" and you land a good outfielder, you get solid production, and you don't have to sweat out if Utley is going to come all the way back.  And even if he does, you still have Cano at 2B.

Go look at those other rosters, and see who needs 2B help, but also has a good stock of outfielders.

I wouldn't rush into a deal….You are in a great position with that depth, and just because you can't play all those guys, doesn't mean you HAVE to move one.  Now…if you can get a good OF back in return, sure.  But with Heyward's struggles, that's not the way to go in my opinion.  You can do better.  And worst case scenario is you have some crazy depth at 1B and 2B for now…

And just a little while ago the Braves put Heyward on the 15 day DL.

Again, check those other rosters, but like Bob said, only pull the trigger on a good OF.
