For any of you who have him and are starting to get worried..don't. He started slow last year when he was called up then had a very good final 2-21/2 months. I realize this is a small sample size. If anything I would try to get him. I realize the orioles look horrendous but he plays almost everyday at C or DH. So have no fear, he'll right the ship

I strongly agree with your assessment…. I had him on my roster last season and he started to pay big dividends for anyone who had him on their roster as he flourished in the 2nd half of the season.
Personally to me he will soon blossom as the 2nd overall best catcher in baseball and expect that progression to really come into fruition by next season, so definitely be patient with him indeed because it will be well worthwhile….

In fact… he's since hit his 4th HR of the season (on 5/5), but unfortunately the following game went 0-3, but he's starting to get more BBs and gradually reducing his strike-outs.
Wieters is still obviously a work in progress with such a high cieling…. So many parallels between him and young Joe Mauer, that it is amazing… Must we not forget Mauer in his 1st full ML season did the following: Games:131, 9 HR, 55 RBI, 61 BB/64 K, .294 BA, .372 OBP, .411 SLG, .939 OPS, the and 13 SB….
To inspect further on Mauer, Mauer on 5/7/05 (that seem season mentioned above) had 4 HR, 11 RBI, .349 BA, .439 OBP, .494 SLG, and .933 OPS…
Entering 5/7/10…. Wieters is at 4 HR, 13 RBI, .277 BA, .342 OBP, .426 SLG, and .768 SLG….
The difference is Mauer exhibited better plate discipline, but other than that Wieters career is starting out in the same fashion that today's best catcher was at, which is obviously a very promising sign of things to come…..

So I completed a buy-low trade for Weiters. So far he hasnt helped my team. Can somebody give me some confidence that he is going to get out of his funk?

He was on a streak there for awhile. It'll come back. When roberts comes back that will only help his cause as well. What did you give up for him?

In his first calendar year in the majors, Wieters hit .280 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI. that was last june to this june. Good numbers for a rookie to sophmore catcher he'll come around.

Wieters will be just fine….I watched guys in several leagues cut bait with Napoli early this season and I stashed him on the bench in a couple of leagues…then swooped in and grabbed him as guys started dropping him in other leagues. Only a matter of time before he started playing and hitting. Good catchers are hard to come by – so when you've got one….ride out the slumps as best you can and wait for the rewards.

I traded Rios for Weiters. On the means of production so far, I got the bad end of the deal. I didn't expect Rios to keep up his hot streak and I expected Weiters to end his slump. I was desperate for a good catcher and I also have a very strong OF in that league (J. Upton, Victorino, J. Heyward, Werth, A. Jackson) so Rios was expendable. Hopefully Weiters can get his bat going and help me in that league.
