I think you can look really closely at one team here….the KC Royals!

Jeff Francouer

Melky Cabrera

Bruce Chen

Nelson Cruz, Lance Berkman and Carlos Beltran. Thats who I have and would want to sell high. But, KC's Outfield Gordon, Frenchy and Melky are my overall, your on the ball Bob!

Again, really?  I have been absolutely crucified in the smack talk in one league for trying to trade Francouer.  Even though he spent the first couple of months of the season in the Top 50, the best I could get for him was a set-up man, ie, Mike Adams.  I did that deal with the hope Heath Bell would be traded 2 months later (this week!) and I'd end up with a closer (and I'm quite confident the other owner gave no thought to that scenario playing out).

I'm wondering if "buy low" and "sell high" work a lot better in football because there are only 16 games in a season, so every performance is magnified?  Baseball is a six month grind, and maybe baseball owners wait out things more with name players.  And as my above example shows, maybe the opposite is true.  Francouer has been criticized greatly for his lack of performance the past few years, and I'm guessing the owners in that league i mentioned knew that, so they ignored his two month binge to open the season.
