Smitty, As you probably know, there were only two guys  who reached 40 HRs last year.  This is rather surprising, but it seems to be a trend.

From 2003-2005 – There were 9-10 40 HR hitters each year

In 2006 – The number of 40 HR hitters reached 11

In 2007 – The number dropped to 5

In 2008 – The only two 40 HR hitters were Ryan Howard (48), and Adam Dunn (40)

I have optimistically estimated that 5 guys will reach the 40 HR mark this year:

Ryan Howard PHI 50
Prince Fielder MLW 42
Adam Dunn ARZ 42
Albert Pujols STL 40
Miguel Cabrera DET 40

At last count, it is estimated that the 2009 NY Yankees team salary will significantly exceed the GDP of at least 9 separate countries.

So clearly roids were helping the game…

I love the Howard projections here! I think Pujols will be second but thats a pretty good list.

I also agree. I think Cabrera gets close to 45 too. Not too sure what to expect from Fielder.

Yea and for some reason I just think Fielder is going to be worth so much more than where he gets drafted. Like a ton more.
