It appears in Pittsburgh that eventually Evan Meeks might become the Pirates full-time closer after he earned a save in Thursday's (4/29) 2-0 victory over the Dodgers…..

Dotel has been terrible thus far…I actually dropped him off my roster in favor of LaTroy Hawkins which signaled my desperation in the saves department….

It appears that John Russell has elected to remain with Dotel as closer and since Dotel has converted his last 2 save opportunities

Meek will be 27 on 5/12, so it's difficult to consider him a prospect at this time, however, he has been known as a sinker pitcher that induces several double-plays and has had rather high K/9 totals as well.  He has also been developing even more command of his pitches, which has enabled to improve one of his main weaknesses…that is his wildness…….

It seems though he'll be entrenched as a mid-reliever (unless Dotel obviously begins to struggle again), so he would mainly impact leagues that have holds as a category…Therefore, his current value is limited and his ceiling is minimized due to his age and role.
