Holy Shitaki mushrooms this guy is killing my ERA and WHIP lately. Please lord tell me he'll bust out of this. Had Liriano, bucholz, and jimenez chipping away at the damage Frank Fransisco did earlier in the year. OOf, sorry had to vent.

I believe that Hoffman will overcome his putrid start….First, his ERA is inflated due to back-to-back blown saves vs the Cardinals when he was torched-up by the likes of Pujols, Holliday, and the lesser known Stavinoha, so definitely too premature to get discourage. Secondly, the Brewers currently don't have anyone else to replace Hoffman as their closer at this time.
He's obviously a savvy veteran who should bounce back quickly…it's just he encountered that ever so potent Cardinals line-up that has done the same to countless other closers……

Dunno, this last one came against the Pirates so, he could be on the downswing. I think investing in him will only give you heartburn.

In recent days Macha has hinted that LaTroy Hawkins (despite of his recent struggles) might replace Hoffman as the Brewers closer, so we definitely must monitor that… Hawkins has been proven in every relief role throughout his career and should be available in 85% of the leagues…..
Speaking of the Pirates (from your last post), Octavio Dotel has had MAJOR struggles as well, but they too lack other solid alternatives for a replacement…..

That was an astute move……
Unfortunately Lidge isn't available in my league (in fact though he's available in over 40% of leagues in general)….. Everyone must jump on him ASAP since the Phillies will give him plenty of save opportunities from here on out……

My thinking exactly. I was shocked he was on the waiver wire in my 12 team league actually. Stupid yahoo rankings and waiver wire listing. After a few minutes of searching though i found him.

Hoffman has converted his last 2 save opportunties, so currently it might be the time to try to dump him off on someone who might be desperate for some saves. Caution though, there aren't too many relievers available in most leagues and the Brewers can get hot….Factor that and Hoffman's track record, everyone should hold on to him as long as you can…….
